An Approach to Innovative Raw Materials Based on Sustainability in Textile
Researchers identified three sustainable raw materials for textiles that prioritize recycling and environmental responsibility.
The study examined three innovative fibers: S.Café, Umorfil, and Seacell, which aim to reduce waste and promote sustainability in the textile industry. These fibers were analyzed for their composition, structural properties, and performance characteristics. The goal is to bring sustainable approaches to the textile industry in response to growing global concerns about resource depletion and waste accumulation.
Abstract
Today, factors such as the increase in the world population, the decrease in natural resources, and the increasing waste accumulation have caused the need for a sustainable life to become important and the awareness of the sustainability concept to increase. The textile industry, on the other hand, has caused a significant increase in textile consumption and production with its dynamics. In this context, bringing sustainability-based approaches and solutions to the agenda has become a necessity for a sustainable world. In this study, 3 different raw materials from sustainability-based innovative fibers were determined in the light of current developments and concepts. In this context, the definition of raw materials such as S.Café®, Umorfil®, Seacell™, which have a sustainability and recycling-oriented approach, their emergence, which groups they consist of, and the structural and performance properties of the fabrics developed in this context were examined.
